What the service aims to do

  • Understand how a company or a start-up works.
  • Know how to move from a research result to a business project.
  • Build a first business model and a business plan.
  • Know the support schemes available: incubators, funding, technology transfer.
  • Prepare future researchers to work with the business world, or to set up their own company in it.

In practice

Many researchers and science students have an idea or a result that could become a company, without knowing where to start. This training gives them the basics (market, business model, funding, legal structure, intellectual property), starting from their own projects.

It has been delivered at Sorbonne Université, École polytechnique and École des Ponts, as part of the Energy4Climate (E4C) interdisciplinary centre, as well as to second-year research master's students at several universities. It was designed with the incubator Les Premières Île-de-France.

How we work

  1. Discussion with the institution about the audience, the objectives and the calendar.
  2. Input on the stages of setting up a company.
  3. Case studies and a business simulation in teams.
  4. Work on the participants' projects.
  5. Final presentation of the projects.
  6. Training certificate for each participant.

Who is involved

  • Trainers who have founded and supported companies.
  • Speakers from business and from incubation.
