What we did

Inserm, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, faces several dissemination and communication challenges in making its researchers' work accessible. After producing the InScience comic, and building on its success, the institute wanted to take it abroad and present it at European conferences.

Cortex was therefore asked to translate the comic into British English and to adapt its text and humour, so that it would remain accessible and accurate for any international reader, whether or not they attended the conferences in which Inserm takes part from 2024 onwards. Translating a science comic means holding together the accuracy of the content, the constraint of the speech bubble and the register of the joke.
