Ivona Grgić
Student of Biotechnology in Medicine
I am a graduate student of Biotechnology in Medicine at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development. Throughout my student life, I have enjoyed popularizing science, where I organized the Biotechnology Student Symposium for two years, the main goal of which was to bring together scientists and teach students how to properly present their scientific papers. I had the opportunity to serve as a President of the Biotechnology Student Association of the University of Rijeka for two years, where I had the opportunity to participate in various volunteer activities and projects. As a student of biotechnology and drug development, I am fascinated by human genetics and discovering the secrets of our genes. Interestingly, we share some of our basic genes with plants and fruits, so you could say that I am a bit of a scientist, a bit of a fruit smoothie. Of course, this does not mean that we are actually fruits, these genes help our body function, and the way they combine makes us unique and it is this genetic diversity that makes humans so interesting and special.
